Treble Solo
Treble SOLO - A portrait of the soloists of the Roden Boys Choir
There is something special about a boy’s voice. In days before women were allowed any part in the services of the church, it added variety to the sound of adult men and, thereby, gave composers a broader scale on which to exercise their musical imaginations. Further, a boy’s vocal power can balance that of a man. But each boy’s voice also carries within in the inexcapable fact that its beauty is brief.
Listen a while. Let yourself to enter the child-like but intensely musical world of these boys. only then can you catch their enthousiasm in its purest form, and perhaps discover something of beauty. |
